Our pelletizing work goes back to the 1960s. We have delivered full conveyor packages for iron-ore pelletizing projects and still supply spare parts for those installations.

Specialty conveyors

Pelletizing plants need equipment that no off-the-shelf supplier makes. We can build 6‑metre‑wide belt feeders for forming a continuous pellet mat in the furnace, and reciprocating‑head conveyors for even material beds.

Wear-liner and material expertise

Iron-ore pellets punch through a plain hardox chute wall if the wear package is wrong. The key to a successful system is the liner specification, the impact geometry at the transfer point, and the material chosen for the pellet stream.

A full pelletizing plant can have 80 to 100 conveyors that feed and carry product away 24/7. When one conveyor stops, a circuit stops, and lost production goes straight to the bottom line.

We minimize downtimes by specifying suitable conveyors and thick wear plates that enable longer service intervals and optimize operating costs.

Iron ore pellets are also one of the hardest and most abrasive materials any of our conveyor’s handle. Material expertise and wear-liner selection decide the operating cost of the plant over its life, not the headline price of the equipment.

Wide-belt feeders and reciprocating heads

Two pieces of equipment separate a real pelletizing conveyor supplier from a generic one.

  • The first application is a wide-belt feeder, which can be up to 6 metres in width. Its function is to take fired pellets from the previous stage and lay them down as an even mat across the full width of the furnace.
  • The second application is a reciprocating-head conveyor. Its discharge end travels back and forth along a track, enabling the conveyor to distribute fired pellets evenly and build a uniform stockpile beneath the discharge point.

Most of our pelletizing belt conveyors are designed with belt widths ranging from 650 mm to 2,000 mm. The wide-belt feeders and reciprocating heads are the wide, short specials that sit at the process-critical points.

Where we fit in the pelletizing chain

We work at the front end and the back end of the process. At the front end we deliver belt conveyors and feeders that move concentrate through the pelletizing circuits.

At the back end we deliver the conveyors that carry fired pellets into storage, and the conveyors, stackers and shiploaders that move them to the export berth. We can also deliver conveyors to the receiving end of the same chain, usually port terminal.

Conveyors in a pelletizing plant are 30-year assets and we provide spare parts and support throughout their entire lifecycle. Long supplier relationships are how they stay productive over that lifetime.
